WPL Auction For 2024 Season Date Announced: The auction date for the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 season is set for December 9. This one-day auction event will take place in Mumbai.

Earlier in October, all five WPL franchises revealed their lists of retained and released players. A total of 60 players, including 21 from overseas, were retained, while 29 players were released. Consequently, there are now 30 slots available for the WPL 2024 auction.
For the upcoming WPL 2024 auction, each franchise has an additional purse of INR 1.5 crore (approximately US $180,228) after the player releases.
Women’s Premier League Auction Schedule
In the inaugural WPL auction, franchises were given INR 12 crore to build their squads. Only Mumbai Indians and UP Warriorz utilized their entire purse. Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, emerged victorious in the first WPL season by defeating Meg Lanning’s Delhi Capitals in the final.
The Gujarat Giants, finishing at the bottom last season, head into the WPL 2024 auction with the highest purse of INR 5.95 crore and 10 slots to fill, including three overseas players. UP Warriorz have INR 4 crore to buy 5 players, while Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals have INR 3.35 crore and INR 2.25 crore, respectively, to complete their squads. Mumbai Indians have INR 2.1 crore allocated for 5 players.
As the WPL 2024 auction date approaches, fans eagerly anticipate discovering which player will secure the most significant contract. In the previous auction, Smriti Mandhana (INR 3.4 crore) became the costliest WPL player, followed by Ashleigh Gardner (INR 3.2 crore) and Nat Sciver-Brunt (INR 3.2 crore). Pakistani players remain ineligible for the WPL auction.
The BCCI is yet to confirm the venues and dates for the WPL 2024 season, with the previous season being played at three stadiums in Mumbai.
